Welcome to the Theosophy In Scotland Web Site
The Theosophical Society in Scotland is striving to play its part in the global shift in consciousness which is presently occurring as we undergo the transition between the Piscean Age and the Aquarian Age. By providing answers to the origins and the spiritual purpose of humanity and by promoting the concept of universal brotherhood we are at the forefront of revolutionary change both in terms of human consciousness and in the conditions of life upon our planet.
About the Theosophical Society
The word theosophy is of Greek origin meaning ‘wisdom of the gods’ (theo- of gods and sophia-wisdom). The Theosophical Society was founded in 1875 as a means of reasserting the spiritual nature of humanity in anticipation of the forthcoming Aquarian Age. Theosophical teachings form part of the ‘Ageless Wisdom’ – a vast collection of timeless truths which relate to both the constitution and the evolution of humanity and the universe and which underlie both esoteric spiritual practices and the world’s major religions.

Our Objects
The first, and primary, object of our Society is to form a nucleus of the universal brotherhood of humanity without distinction of race, creed, sex, caste or colour. Underlying this objective is the realisation that humanity, and all life, emanates from one divine source and is engaged upon a long evolutionary journey to develop and express its spirituality amidst the challenges and constraints of the physical world. This journey is commonly referred to as the ‘spiritual path’.
The second object or the Theosophical Society encourages the study of comparative religion, philosophy and science and our third object the investigation of the unexplained laws of nature and the powers latent within humanity. The exploration of such matters can assist one in accessing levels of their being where truth abides and where qualities such as those of love, wisdom, compassion and altruism can be accessed and thereafter expressed in the world for the benefit of humanity and the planet in general.
Our Motto
Our motto states that ‘there is no religion higher than truth’ and we exist for the purpose of encouraging the pursuit of truth both as an organisation and amongst our individual members. Each member is encouraged to find their own particular ‘truth’ whilst endeavouring to locate and express their spirituality by whatever means they consider to be appropriate. Fortunately today you can express your spirituality in many ways. Whatever it is through a craft or hobby, we all have something we do in a way that fulfills our spirit. There is no religion or law higher than Truth

The Esoterica Magazine:
Winter/Spring 2011 Vol2 no1
"The word Theosophy has been used for many centuries; it is a compound word of Greek
origin meaning Wisdom of the
Gods (Theos - of Gods,
Sophia - wisdom). Wisdom
cannot be enclosed within
words, it is Truth which must be
discovered and experienced.
Each of us must find our own
'Truth' and strive to understand
our own spiritual nature"
